  • Hives is a marketplace. We process data to run accounts, show listings, facilitate messaging and bookings, improve safety, and comply with law.
  • You control key settings. Update profile, marketing, and cookie preferences where we offer them in product or browser settings.
  • We share when needed. With service providers, when you direct us, in business transfers, or when required to protect users and the platform.

This Policy supplements our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.

1. Introduction

Hives ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.

2. Information we collect

2.1 You provide

  • Account data: name, email, phone, password or SSO tokens, profile photo, role (e.g. guest, host, agent), and preferences.
  • Listing and transaction data: property descriptions, media, pricing, availability, booking or tour requests, messages you send through Hives, and documents you upload for verification.
  • Payment data: processed by payment partners; we typically receive limited information (e.g. last four digits, status), not full card numbers on our servers.
  • Support: information you provide when you contact us.

2.2 Automatic collection

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, app version, dates and times of access, referring URLs, and crash diagnostics.
  • Usage data: properties viewed, searches, saves, clicks, and in-app events that help us operate and improve the Services.
  • Approximate location: derived from IP or device settings to show relevant listings and comply with regional requirements.

2.3 From others

We may receive information from business partners, analytics providers, fraud-prevention vendors, public sources, or other users (for example, when a co-host invites you to a listing workspace).

3. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, secure, and personalize the Services.
  • Create and manage accounts; authenticate users; conduct verification and risk checks.
  • Facilitate messaging, scheduling, bookings, and payments where available.
  • Send service-related notices, security alerts, and (where permitted) marketing you can opt out of.
  • Measure performance, debug, conduct analytics, and develop new features.
  • Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect rights, safety, and property.

4. How we share information

  • With other users as needed to operate the marketplace (e.g. showing host contact flows you enable, or guest details relevant to a confirmed booking).
  • With service providers who process data on our instructions (hosting, email, analytics, payment, customer support, verification).
  • For legal reasons when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or government request, or necessary to prevent harm or abuse.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • With your direction or consent.

We do not sell your personal information as "sale" is defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

5. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type; for example, we may keep transaction records longer than transient logs.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Marketing emails include unsubscribe instructions. You can adjust some preferences in your account settings or device OS settings for push notifications.

7. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International transfers

We may process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

9. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice as required by law.
